If users are complaining about your app feeling slow, it is rarely just one thing. Here are the five signs I look for before running a full performance audit for a client.
- Cold start takes longer than 2-3 seconds.
- Scrolling lists (especially images) drop frames.
- Memory usage climbs and never comes back down.
- Battery drain complaints in App Store / Play Store reviews.
- API calls block the UI thread.
Each of these has a specific fix — from lazy-loading images to moving work off the main thread with proper state management. If you are seeing two or more of these, it is worth a proper profiling pass before adding new features.
